Welcome to the March newsletter. The markets are jittering again. Australian shares plunged to a two-month low after battling headwinds on all fronts, with negative offshore leads, concerns about Greece’s debt woes and disappointing local economic growth figures all weighing on sentiment. Investors remained bearish in light of concerns of a hard landing in China and were also rattled by fears of a disorderly default in Greece. Both worries had pulled European markets and Wall Street sharply lower overnight. This month we look the Greek issue and how they continue to affect the market.
Financial Advisers are also taking a beating at the moment with the coming introduction the Future of financial advice ( FoFA.) This month we discuss what a good adviser actually does.
With the property market in the doldrums and the possibility of interest rates on hold for some time we revisit the tax implications on investing in property with an example to show how cash flow is impacted. If that doesn’t cheer you up we also find out if you may be compelled to go to a nursing home in your old age or can you avoid it.
We hope you enjoy the new style of newsletter this month. We think it is more ‘user friendly’ and would welcome your feedback. We are always happy to hear from our subscribers and clients. Tell us more of what you would like to hear.
Some people may think that a financial adviser’s role is to forecast the direction of the share market from month to month and invest clients’ money accordingly
