The January nightly news is full of sad stories of car accidents, shark attacks and fire tragedy. Bad things do happen to good people and it’s important you have protection in place for you and your family.

We all seem to find it easier to pay out for car, health and home and contents insurance and yet struggle with insuring our own incomes and lives.

Is it time you reviewed your insurances? There are many ways to make good protection affordable and meaningful.  Here are just a few questions to ask yourself to see if you need a review.

1.            Have you or your spouse had a child in the last 12 months, including adoption?

2.            In the last 12 months have you taken out or increased the value of your mortgage on your principal residence?

3.            Have you or your spouse’s salary package increased by 15% or more in the last 12 months?

4.            Have any of your children started Secondary Education? i.e. High School

5.            Are you caring for or financially responsible for provision of care?  i.e. sick parent.

6.            Are your children still financially dependent on you?

7.            Have you married/divorced in the last 12 months?

8.            Have you completed an undergraduate degree?

And for Business owners

9.            Has the value of your business increased?

10.          Has your business taken out any new loans recently?
